The page layouts affect how content is positioned on the page.
There are 5 page layouts to choose from, they have a related design page that show mock-ups of pages using Content Types.
By default the Page Title is set to the name of the section, but this can be customized by using the "Custom Page Title" on the section's detail tab.
Content Types are used to add content and functionality to pages. You can see the links to all content types in the left sidebar.
